How many cherries do you do? Cherries are an exceptionally good source of polyphenols which promote good health. That's why producers of superfoods have more than an average interest in products based on cherries that can, for example, improve the quality of sleep or help muscles to recover after a marathon or a heavy workout (Garrido et al., 2012).⁣

Key Facts

📚CHERRIES LOWER STRESS IN HUMANS:⁣
Researchers at the University of Extremadura gave subjects the equivalent of 18 cherries twice a day for 5 subsequent days. The study involved 30 subjects; ⁣
Young subjects didn't notice much effect from cherry intake, but the older adults did. Their Trait and State Anxiety Scores were reduced; in other words, the cherries made them less nervous, fretful and tense. The researchers noted a significant reduction in cortisol levels as a result of cherry intake (Garrido et al., 2012).⁣

💥TAKEAWAY:⁣
Cherries represent a snack that can lower cortisol, and possibly contribute to improved sleep quality, and mood - alongside its melatonin increasing abilities.⁣
