🌙 CURCUMIN AT NIGHT/BEFORE BED:
Curcumin inhibits adenosine deaminase, the enzyme that breakdown adenosine (Akinyemi et al., 2017). Adenosine is a neuromodulator that regulates the sleep/wake state of the body. This inhibition caused by curcumin at night, may promote and prolong the amount of adenosine in our brain, leading to greater sleep pressure and sleep quality.
✅INCREASES SEROTONIN:
It is well established that Curcumin can promote the release and slow the breakdown of serotonin in the brain. It does this via inhibiting an enzyme MAO-A (Jones et al., 2017). Remember serotonin is our PRECURSOR neurotransmitter to the sleep inducing hormone melatonin.
💥STRONGER ANTI-TUMOUR PROPERTIES:
Whilst I am not saying Curcumin should be used for anti-timor properties, evidence does demonstrate that the effectiveness of Curcumin against tumors is actually potentiated/strengthened by melatonin (Shrestha et al., 2017).
🌝PERSONAL EXPERIENCE FROM USER:
“I am now quite sure about Curcumin before bed because I've tried it on and off many times, and each time I go on the "plan" I can sleep till 7-8am (going to bed 10-11pm). Otherwise I will wake up at 3-4am.”
💥TAKEAWAY:
It may be advantageous to use Curcumin before bed. To top this off, it also lowers cortisol. Only one way to find out whether it works for you or not.
