Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is activated by cold exposure and many other herbs/strategies, and has the potential to improve body composition and metabolic balance/homeostasis in adults. Let’s take a look…⁣

Key Facts

🔥CAFFEINE INCREASES BROWN FAT:⁣
New complementary in vitro and in vivo evidence demonstrates that caffeine administered by a coffee beverage, can promote Brown Fat Adipose Tissue  function at doses compatible with human use. ⁣
In vivo, drinking coffee (but not water) stimulated the temperature of the supraclavicular region, which co-locates to the main region of BAT in adult humans, and is indicative of thermogenesis (Velickovic et al., 2019).⁣

✅OTHER MECHANISMS CAFFEINE INCREASES FAT LOSS:⁣
1. inhibits differentiation, promotes lipolysis and suppresses intracellular lipid accumulation in adipocyte cultures (Velickovic et al., 2019).⁣
2. 100mg caffeine has been shown to increase the resting metabolic rate of lean and post-obese humans (Astrup et al., 1993).⁣
3. Caffeine possesses thermogenic properties, increasing body temperature. ⁣
4. Inhibitory effects on cAMP degradation (Davoodi et al., 2014).⁣

💥TAKEAWAY:⁣
This is VERY new evidence supporting the use of caffeine/coffee for increasing Brown Fat Tissue. This is exciting for coffee drinkers! Keep in mind, coffee has it’s pro’s and con’s, but when used STRATEGICALLY, can improve our overall wellness and performance. Who loves coffee?⁣
