Do you have a microwave? Because it can be the key to getting the most out of your vegetables. Microwaving your vegetables increases the sulforaphane content in vegetables. Sulforaphane is a key compound found within many cruciferous vegetables.

Key Facts

Many studies have proven that sulforaphane has many favorable effects on your body…

·      May have anti-cancer effects

·      May support heart health

·      May have antidiabetic effects

·      May treat symptoms of autism

·      May protect against sun damage

·      May protect against brain damage

·      May improve constipation.

Microwave cooking increases sulforaphane level in broccoli by 80% at 50-60ºC heat (Lu et al., 2020).

Microwave for 1 minute.

It’s shocking.

As you may know, microwaving your food is a highly debated topic.

But the results show that it's benefitial to microwave your vegetables.

Dommes 2018, also found that the sulforaphane content in broccoli increases 4 times after just 1 minute of microwaving (950W). It became undetectable after 3 minutes of microwaving.

But bear in mind, broccoli sprouts contain far more sulforaphane than regular broccoli.

Use this to your advantage and microwave your vegetables to get the most out of them!
